Summer “Cruise” For Clydebank Care Home

Hillview 2Residents at a Bupa care home in Clydebank travelled across two continents and sampled local cuisine this summer – without even packing a suitcase.

Bupa’s Hill View care home, on Singer Road, embraced the holiday season by taking its residents on a continental “cruise” which involved hosting a different country-themed day every week throughout August.

The cruise kicked off with a Spanish fiesta, followed by a traditional Scottish-themed day for week two, complete with haggis and ceilidh music. The third week in August saw Hill View’s residents try a taste of the Mediterranean with classic Italian food and entertainment. The ‘cruise’ was rounded off with a trip to the USA, with residents enjoying burgers, hotdogs and country music.

Graham Kelly, Home Manager at Bupa’s Hill View Care Home, spoke of his delight to be able to bring a little sunshine into the care home to brighten up a typical British summer.

Graham said: “Despite the typical grey and drizzly Scottish weather, our residents really enjoyed the summer “cruise” and the opportunity to experience different cultures.

“We aim to give our residents the best quality of life at Hill View and we understand that many enjoyed a summer trip abroad in their younger years, so we make sure we put as much emphasis on our summer activity programme as possible.

“We always strive to come up with inspiring ideas for events, and the holiday-themed activities are great as they bring the residents together and encourage them to socialise, relax and have fun.

“Everyone is very much looking forward to travelling to different, exotic destinations next summer.”
