Staff Member at Stratford upon Avon Based Care Home to Run Half Marathon in Bid to Raise Funds for Home

A staff member at a Stratford upon Avon based care home will be running a half marathon to raise funds for an interactive tablet for residents.

Anne Hemming is the activity coordinator at MHA Cedar Lodge and will be running the half marathon with her daughter Rebecca.

The half marathon will take place on Sunday 29 May from 10am, a Just Giving page has been set up, and already more than £1,000 has been raised out of the target of £5,000.

The pair will start the run from the home, which provides residential, nursing and residential dementia care for 47 residents and go around the surrounding villages before coming back to the finish line at the home.

The funds raised will be for a touch screen interactive tablet, specially designed for care homes.

Prior to this Anne ran the London Marathon in 2017 to raise funds for the home, where her dad is currently a resident.

Speaking about the challenge Anne said: “I decided to do something six months ago as the impact of Covid was very tough on the home.

“We were unable to raise any money towards our amenity fund, which is vital for residents.

“The interactive tablet will be the first for our home and it will help me when I am delivering activities with residents.

“It will offer life-size visual communication for our residents to keep in touch, see and talk to their loved ones through technology.

“I have started training for the half marathon with Rebecca, and I am looking forward to completing it.

“The support already has been great and I am very hopeful we will continue to get more support.
