St Patrick’s Day Gets the Green Light at Local Care Home

Residents and staff at Reigate Beaumont in Reigate celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and as much green as possible to mark the day.

Held on March 17th, Saint Patrick’s Day observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.

Staff and residents at the home marked the day by singing Irish songs together and playing a variety of games, residents winning prizes and Guinness tasting. Head chef Roman prepared a fantastic spread such as the traditional Irish stew, Guinness & treacle sponge even down to the lime coloured jelly!

General Manager, Pramojil Kurian said: “Our residents have all had a brilliant day today, everyone has enjoyed the festivities. It is brilliant to see residents and staff engaged and celebrating a day like this together.”

Joyce, a resident at Reigate Beaumont said: “It has been a lovely day. A lot of fun and games and singing songs together brought back many memories.”
