EGG and spoon race, ping pong and tug of war were just some of the events at a sports day for Chesterfield care home workers.

Springbank House Care Home, on Ashgate Road, held the event to make the most of the hot weather.

Almost two dozen members of staff, including carers, kitchen staff, house keepers and managers all took part, with residents and relatives cheering them on.

A BBQ and refreshments were also available for the spectators and competitors.

Karen Busby, home manager at Springbank House Care Home, said: “It was a great day. The home has been buzzing, bringing the residents, relatives and staff together.

“To think it came from Alison Dunlop, our kitchen manager, messing around with a potato sack, with a sack race being our final event of the day.

“Congratulations go to the red team for taking the victory but also to everyone for taking part, with many staff members giving up their free time.”
