Southport Home Raises More than £1,000 with 24 Treadmill Challenge and Tea Party

A Southport home has raised more than £1,000 by hosting a treadmill challenge and tea party.

MHA Connell Court arranged for a 24-hour treadmill challenge to raise funds for the home to renovate its garden and make a user-friendly space with a sensory garden.

Staff and residents got involved in the challenge and with the help of a tea party they managed to raise £1172.50.

In order to achieve the target of £5,000 additional events such as a summer fair and coffee morning are in the pipeline

Jennifer McCulloch, admin manager said:
“The challenge combined with our Communi-tea party was very successful and something that helped us to get the ball rolling with our fundraising.

“We had more than 35 people her on the day and they all contributed either by walking/running on the treadmill or donating

“A lot of the credit should go to Cathy Rothwell, our activities coordinator who planned the event and oversaw it to make sure it went well.

“It was so nice to see everyone, and the day was very enjoyable for all.

“After seeing staff members and their family members take part in the treadmill challenge, some residents also got stuck in and it was great to see.

“We want to thank everyone from donors to participants for their support.

“We received some great support from the community, with Adele Dennis, community champion for the Tesco Extra in Kew, donating refreshments for participants in the challenge

“We still have a long way to go before we are in a position to start the work on the garden, but with additional events planned in the summer we are confident we will be able to achieve the target.”
