School’s Out For Skelmersdale Care Home Resident!

Elm House Care Home care home, located in Skelmersdale held a Summer event on Saturday to say thank you to their fantastic staff and residents, and it certainly packed a big surprise!

Elm House are a brand-new care home and proudly offer not only state of the art facilities, but also old-fashioned care and love for their residents. Recently, the staff at Elm House decided to ask their residents if they had any unfulfilled dreams that, if possible, they could help to make come true.

At the event it was possible to do this – one lady has a passion for rock music and was delighted when she was presented with tickets for herself and her carer to see none other than the legendary Alice Cooper in action at the MEN Arena in October!

The home has also produced their own quiz books for residents and sold these on a donation basis on the day to raise funds for Dementia UK, along with the proceeds from their raffle.

Registered manager Angela Finnigan told us:

“When we introduced the Wish Box for the residents we certainly didn’t expect a request to see Alice Cooper! Kath is a lovely lady and it was a pleasure to be able to organise this for her, she hasn’t stopped playing Alice records since the weekend!”

Angela continued:

“Our motto is that life begins at Elm House! We wanted to take this opportunity to show the unsung heroes in our team that we are grateful for their commitment and passion, whilst also showing how important it is to engage closely with our residents to let them know how much we love them and want them to enjoy their time with us.”
