Ridgewood Court Honoured For Its Care For Veterans
The team and residents at Sanctuary Care’s Ridgewood Court Residential Care Home in Pensby are celebrating after proudly achieving Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status.
This prestigious accreditation recognises the not-for-profit home’s unwavering commitment to honouring the unique experiences of veterans in our community, supporting their practical, emotional and social needs.
To mark the achievement, the home welcomed the Mayor of Wirral Brian Kenny and wife Helen Kenny along to a celebratory party, along with representatives from the Royal British Legion. They joined the team, residents and families, as well as veterans from the local community for a special afternoon tea.
Home Manager Aimie Heller said: “Achieving Veteran Friendly Framework status is something we’re incredibly proud of at Ridgewood Court. Many of our residents have given so much in service to their country, and it’s vital they feel valued, respected and honoured for the sacrifices they have made.
“This accreditation reflects the dedication of our team to understanding each veteran’s story and ensuring they feel a strong sense of belonging, connection and appreciation within our home and the wider community.”
As part of this commitment the team, which currently cares for six veterans, has forged strong connections with local armed forces community groups, connecting its residents with other local veterans outside Ridgewood Court.
The Sanctuary Care home also has dedicated Veteran Champions – team members who have completed specialist training and now share their knowledge with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care for veterans and their families.
Kathryn Glass is the VFF Project Lead at Royal Star & Garter and responsible for supporting and assessing care homes going through the scheme. She said: “We’re delighted that Sanctuary Care’s Ridgewood Court Residential Care Home has achieved VFF status. This is a great commitment to their continuous improvement in the delivery of person-centred care for veteran residents and their partners.”
