Residents At Penarth Home Go On Trip Down Memory Lane With Classic Car Show

Residents at a Penarth home went on a trip down memory lane thanks to the home arranging a classic car show for them.

MHA Ty Gwyn welcomed four classic cars to the home, which were well received by the car enthusiastic residents at the home.

The cars were brought in by a member of the community, Malcolm and his colleagues.

They brought with them a Mercedes SIk (1998), a Mercedes SIk Amg (2004) a Morris 1000 Traveller (1967) and a Austin 1300 (1972).

MHA Ty Gwyn provides nursing care for 45 residents.

Mary- Anne Rawle, activities coordinator said:
“We got the idea of the classic car show from another MHA home, Morel Court.

“Malcolm and his colleagues visited the home and we liked the idea and decided to do the same for the residents at MHA Ty Gwyn.

“Some of our residents are very knowledgeable when it comes to cars and they were very happy to see them.

“The cars would have been very popular when our residents were car owners.

“They were quite intrigued to see the cars and had huge smiles on their faces.

“Doing activities like this helps us to get a better understanding of what our residents like to do.

“I think our gents in particular enjoyed the visit, it worked out quite well and it’s something we would definitely be up for doing again.”
