Residents At Dorset House Welcome Caring Canines

Canines Residents at Care South’s Dorset House care home in Hamworthy, Poole, recently welcomed a four-legged friend from Caring Canines.

Caring Canines is a Bournemouth-based voluntary group that connects volunteers and their dogs with care homes, hospitals, hospices, sheltered housing and special needs schools.

The residents at Dorset House welcomed Tia, a toy Poodle, brought in by her owner Julie. She was truly loved by all the residents, stirring up memories from when they once owned their own pets.

Set up by dog lovers, Sue Dennett and Julie Lankshear, Caring Canine volunteers support therapy sessions, which are shown to bring a sense of calm and wellness to participants.

Joan Nickson, Home Manager at Dorset House commented: “We all look forward to the visits from the Caring Canines team. Julie visits Dorset House with Tia regularly and Tia has really become a firm favourite. She is very relaxed and gives all the residents some great entertainment, they enjoy stroking her coat and asking all about her. We look forward to her next visit.
