Residents at Alloa Care Home Enjoy MP Visit for UK Parliament Week
HC-One Scotland’s The Orchard Care Home in Tullibody, Alloa, Clackmannanshire, was visited on Friday, November 22 by Member of Parliament (MP) for Alloa and Grangemouth, Brian Leishman during UK Parliament Week.
UK Parliament Week, which takes place from November 18 to 24, 2024, aims to spread the word about what Parliament is and the roles of local dignitaries, what Parliament and local dignitaries do, and how individuals can get involved, act and make an impact on the issues they care about.
Residents and colleagues of the HC-One Scotland owned care home enjoyed meeting MP Brian Leishman and chatting to him about what life is like at The Orchard Care Home – which is an integral part of the Tullibody community.
MP Brian Leishman enjoyed a tour round the 56-bedded nursing and nursing dementia care home, including the cinema, hair salon, lounge, ensuite bedrooms and landscaped gardens.
In addition to welcoming their local politician, residents and colleagues have enjoyed a variety of fun-filled activities for UK Parliament Week which were enjoyed by all. Activities included an online Q&A sessions, quizzes and lively debates; debating issues and holding votes; creating petitions; holding themed assemblies and council elections; baking and crafting.
Susan Gibson, Home Manager at HC-One Scotland’s The Orchard Care Home, commented: “We were delighted to welcome MP Brian Leishman to our home during UK Parliament Week. Everyone had a great time, chatting and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them.”
Alloa and Grangemouth’s MP, Brian Leishman, stated: “It was great to visit The Orchard in Tullibody last week and meet Susan and Sandra and hear about the fantastic work they and all the staff do in caring for and providing a fantastic service to residents. Caring is more than a job and that was apparent in speaking with staff and hearing about the passion they have for making The Orchard the place that it is.”
