Resident Marks 10-year Anniversary with the Help of a Famous Face
A 93-year-old resident at Signature at Purley celebrated her 10th anniversary living at the care home, with the help of cake, a glass of bubbly and her favourite movie star.
Penny Gladding, turns 94 in April, enjoyed a Liam Neeson-themed celebration which Team Members at the care home organised to mark the special occasion, and even included a life-sized cut out of the movie star.
The retired Children’s Nursery Nurse and qualified Squash Coach, moved into the luxury care home with her late Husband, Claude in 2012.
Reflecting on her time at the home, Penny says she has enjoyed spending quality time with her fellow residents, and regularly enjoys Liam’s work as “his number one fan” and revealed her favourite films.
Penny said: “I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already; I really enjoy every day and I have no complaints; everything is taken care of, and the Signature at Purley team are wonderful. I can’t fault anything.
“I love Liam Neeson because he is a fantastic actor and very handsome, my favourite films of his are Taken 1 and Taken 2. “
Rebecca Peters, Client Liaison Manager at Signature at Purley reflected on Penny’s celebration and said:
“Penny is a much-loved member of our community, she is such a funny, vibrant lady and wonderful company. We always have a party to mark such occasions as big birthdays and special anniversaries and try and make them themed to give them a real individual feel. We had no trouble thinking of a theme for Penny, I think she is quite easily the biggest Liam Neeson fan in the country, possibly the world!
“I’m quite sure this is the first Liam Neeson-themed tea party ever. The large cut out of him now takes pride of place next to her bed which often makes the staff jump when they go into see her! Penny’s daughter came into see us to thank us for making this occasion so memorable, Penny really was over the moon. A huge thanks to our Activities Manager Amanda who organised and sourced everything and to Corina in Dining Services Co-Ordinator for making such a fabulous cake.”
