“Receiving Care Being a Carer Myself, Gives Me a Lot Of Comfort”, Says Resident at Scarborough Home
A resident living at a Scarborough home says she gets a lot of comfort being cared for by staff, given she was in a position to do the same in her younger days.
Ruth Ainley has been living at MHA Priceholme since April and credits the mix of independence and support you get at the home.
Ruth studied midwifery and worked as a midwife/nurse in South Africa and upon moving back to the UK was the first female patron at St Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough back in 1985.
MHA Priceholme provides residential care for up to 32 residents.
Speaking of her time at the home, the 83-year-old said: “ I am very happy I made the decision to pick MHA Priceholme.
“It’s a very friendly home, it’s not too big, which makes it personal and I really like the outdoor space that comes with the home.
“The staff here are great, and I along with the other residents are looked after very well.
“Having been someone who would look after people, I still want to help, but the staff are always on hand.
“Looking after people is something that comes naturally to me.
“Now receiving care, being a carer myself, gives me a lot of comfort and I would absolutely recommend MHA Priceholme.
“I like the activities, especially knit and knatter, and sometimes it’s nice just to sit in my room or with other residents in the communal areas.
“As I said before, the staff are great, they are very polite and I appreciate the care they provide for me.”
