Ready, Steady, Bake! – Signature at Esher Join Bakers Across the Globe to Celebrate World Baking Day

Signature at Esher, a care home in Esher, have recently joined bakers across the globe to celebrate an art this world would just not be the same without.

On the 17th May every year World Baking Day inspires people to dig out their rolling pins and bake something delicious for their loved ones, friends, and neighbours. Providing a great opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the wonderful art of baking, it is a truly unforgettable day filled with delicious delights.

To mark the occasion, residents, and team members at Signature at Esher care home came together to enjoy an afternoon of cake baking.

Taking place in the wonderful care home kitchen area, residents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to put their baking skills to the test and cook up some tasty baked goods.

Residents enjoyed baking, and eating, some lovely lemon drizzle cake, bread rolls and gingerbread cupcakes.

Speaking about their World Baking Day celebrations, Steph Hendriksz, Activities Coordinator at Signature at Esher, said:

“The original purpose of World Baking Day was to spread the joy of baking all around the world, especially to those who perhaps don’t bake too often and are not particularly experienced at it.

“Whilst we have some experienced bakers in our home, it was important we involved residents with less experience in the kitchen. It is never too late to pick up a new skill, and at Signature at Esher we truly understand how important new and stimulating activities are for both the mental and physical wellbeing of our residents.

“These activities include those we put together for World Baking Day. Life is truly, what you bake of it!”

Resident at the care home, Nan M-W, added:
“I haven’t baked in so long. It was lovely to be able to bake again alongside my friends.”
