Quantum Care, a not-for-profit care provider which provides specialist residential and dementia care, is taking on the challenge of granting a wish to each of their 1,500 residents across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Essex.
The initiative has been named Silver Wishes and is part of Quantum Care’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. The initiative was formally launched at The Quantum Care annual Christmas Party in the presence of 300 residents from across the county.
As part of Silver Wishes, every resident in a Quantum Care care home has been asked to write down one wish, no matter how big or how small, and the staff at each care home will do their best to make those dreams come true.
The collected wishes range from taking one resident and her family to enjoy a simple afternoon tea to the more extravagant wish of a ride in a hot air balloon.
No matter how challenging, the staff at the care homes are determined to make these wishes come true, and they are looking to the public to help them.
Maria Ball, CEO of Quantum Care said:
“ The Silver Wishes initiative is a way for us to make sure that every single one of our residents gets the chance to experience something which truly makes them happy. For some residents this is the realisation of a life-long dream and for others it is the chance to re-live old memories.
“We have managed to grant some wonderful wishes so far with the help of staff, family and friends. Whether it was helping one of our residents to fulfil his dream of petting a wolf, enabling another resident to pick up her old dancing shoes and waltz again, or helping Ernie – a 99 year-old veteran – to re-live his naval career, we have loved seeing these dreams made a reality.
“But we still have lots more wishes to grant, and this is why we are turning to the wonderful people of Hertfordshire to help us. If you think you can help us make a wish come true, no matter how big or small, please visit our website and get in touch.“
If you think you can help make a Quantum Care resident’s dream come true then please visit the Silver Wishes website for a full list of wishes and information on how you can get involved. The wishes range from a simple afternoon out with friends and family to the more extravagant ride in a helicopter, so any help, time, or donations that you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
