Oxfordshire Care Homes Celebrate 90 Glorious Years!

GloriousNearly 150 care home residents and staff from across Oxfordshire recently got together to celebrate 90 glorious years at the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) summer fun day.

All 17 Oxfordshire care homes run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) took part in the event the event, which celebrated 90 Glorious Years and was held at Didcot Civic Hall on 21 July.

This year’s fun day had a street party theme and featured a cream tea and music from Daisy Chain Productions, a duo who sang a selection of summer songs from across the decades. There was also a parade of the best-dressed residents and Trust employees, who were challenged to come up with a costume typical of the fashion from one of the last nine decades.

Patsy Just, Oxfordshire Assistant Operations Director for OSJCT, commented: “Our summer fun day is something residents really look forward to each year.”

“Days like this are extremely important for our residents because they not only get everyone out and about, socialising with people from other homes from around the county, but they are also a very effective way of helping residents trigger memories from the past – whether it’s through singing, dancing, a certain type of food, or simply having a good time.”
