Oxfordshire Care Home Provider Brings The Seaside To Residents

Oxfordshire Care HomeOxfordshire care home residents had an opportunity to feel the sand beneath their toes as part of a seaside-themed Fun Day, designed to bring residents and staff together for an afternoon of nostalgia and socialising.

On Wednesday 19th August, nearly 150 residents and staff from the 17 Oxfordshire care homes run by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) partied at their annual summer event at The Kings Centre in Oxford.

As part of the occasion, residents reminisced back to their younger days at the seaside while enjoying a day full of classic seaside treats with entertainment including hook-a-duck, a photo booth and a visit from real donkeys, along with fish & chips and ice cream for lunch.

The Lord Mayor of Oxford also made an appearance at the party to spend time with residents and enjoy the festivities.

Patsy Just, OSJCT Oxfordshire Assistant Operations Director, commented: “Our residents look forward to the annual summer Fun Day every year because it’s always a fun-filled day full of laughs and socialising – the perfect day out!”

“We chose the British seaside as the theme for this year’s summer party because for many of our residents it brings back fond memories of childhood holidays”

“Our activity coordinators across the county work tirelessly to plan and implement different events throughout the year.  Days out like these are extremely important because they provide a social outlet for residents and also help them to maintain a strong sense of well-being.”
