Owls Bring Joy To Bayleaf Care Home Residents

Residents at Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon had a real treat on Tuesday when they visited their sister home, Hilton Park in Bottisham for a very special Owl Display courtesy of Evie’s Owls.

To their delight, the owls, a Barn Owl named Sarah and a Bolivian Chaco Owl named Chico, swooped over their heads, giving residents a chance to watch the magnificent birds flying up close and putting on a spectacular display before there was an engaging talk about the birds before the residents enjoyed the unique experience of stroking them and feeling their soft feathers.

Resident Freda Smith was thrilled by the experience, saying:
“As a child I used to love all animals but I have always had a real soft spot for owls. Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful to see the owls up close.”

General Manager Katie Wilkinson added:

“Our residents have really enjoyed their special day today. We are very grateful to Hilton Park for the invite to see the owls, especially as it gives us the chance to take residents on outings away from the home. We are always looking for new activities, and today we’ve seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.
