Outstanding CQC Rating For Malden House After Implementing Mobile Care Monitoring

Malden House Care Home (part of the Hartford Care Group), in Sidmouth, Devon has been awarded an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Prior to inspection, Malden House implemented Mobile Care Monitoring by Person Centred Software to evidence care plans and records electronically. The CQC report recognises how the system has the potential to improve the quantity of time staff had to spend with residents, mentioning that “Staff used hand held electronic devices to keep people’s records up to date, which freed them up to spend more time with people.”

The CQC inspection report published in May 2018 specifies that the care home achieved Outstanding levels in 4 of 5 key questions – Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led. In the previous year, Malden House implemented Mobile Care Monitoring.

Agnieszka Orlowska, General Manager at Malden House says: “At Malden House, the change from paper care plans to Person Centred Software’s system in the last year has positively contributed to providing ‘outstanding’ care, comfort and companionship in an environment that is safe and happy for all.”

She continues: “As part of Hartford Care, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality care and we strive to make a positive difference to each person’s quality of life. Our residents have benefitted from more one on one interaction because our care team doesn’t have to worry about writing time-consuming care plans. Instead residents’ profiles are updated quickly and efficiently, to reflect their specific care needs. This enhances communication between our teams to ensure we have the latest relevant information about our residents and can concentrate on the finer details of daily living. The digital side of the software allows me and senior management to access the care plans of our residents remotely, to give us a good overview – something you simply can’t do with paper care plans.”

Mobile Care Monitoring has contributed to the learning and development of staff at Malden House. Agnieszka explains, “One of our Senior Carers is undertaking a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care. As part of his research project, he decided to compare written care plans with Mobile Care Monitoring and the outcome showed that Mobile Care Monitoring provided thorough information, so he felt equipped with comprehensive knowledge to deliver outstanding care.”

Jonathan Papworth, Co-Founder and Director of Person Centred Software says: “Congratulations to Malden House for achieving an Outstanding rating from CQC. Mobile Care Monitoring is helping staff to have more time to care for people rather than spend loads of time on paperwork and admin, which is what matters most to people living in residential care.”
