Our Sunny, Family Party Makes Everyone Feel Good at the Chiswick Nursing Centre

The good weather stayed with us for our second outdoor event of the season. This time it was our annual summer party.

Residents had helped to get things ready by making some of the decorations in their activities sessions as well as styling the PARTY sign and backdrops for our entertainers. Thanks are also due to our activities team who pulled out all the stops. Nothing was too much trouble.

Family and friends joined us for what everyone agreed was a fantastic occasion. One particularly touching moment was when one lady, who hasn’t left her bed in a while, got dressed and came down in a wheelchair to be with her loved ones, enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and entertainment.

Reniece and Delicia from Healthy, Happy Music got everybody going with their amazing voices, belting out some popular Tamla Motown songs that reminded many of their youth. Michael Jackson’s ‘Don’t Blame it on the Sunshine’, ‘Clap to Make you Feel Good’ and ’We are Family’ were just some of the hits that had people dancing and singing. Even those who couldn’t get up were doing the hand jive.

And we were all one big family – suitably fed and watered by John’s amazing BBQ. He excelled himself with delicious burgers and lamb sausages, and an ice cream cone to follow.

As you can see from the pictures, we ran out of chairs so there was standing room only for some of our guests, who minded not one bit.
