Nicola Blackwood MP Visits Oaken Holt Care Home

Nicola Blackwood MP visit resizeThe local MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, Nicola Blackwood, visited Oaken Holt Care Home, Farmoor, Oxford, on Friday 27 November to meet with the Home Manager, care team and residents. The MP received a tour of the care home and its new dementia wing, which is due to open in 2016, and spent time talking to residents and carers at the home.

Sherrie Hume, Home Manager at Oaken Holt, said: “It is really nice that our local MP takes the time out of her very busy schedule to visit with us and meet our residents. She was very impressed with the work on the new dementia wing and agrees it will be a wonderful new facility for the people of Oxford for many years to come.”

She added: “Nicola was a real natural with our residents and everyone enjoyed meeting her.”

Oaken Holt currently offers a variety of residential and nursing care options, and specialises in palliative and cancer care, dedicated care for those with a hearing, speech or visual impairment, specialist care following a stroke as well as tailored care for older people with heart disease or Parkinson’s disease.

The home is a magnificent country estate, with 23 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens. The house, offering nursing care, retains a wealth of period features with the Coach House offering residential support. An onsite nursing village called Parklands offers 29 one and two bedroom apartments and bungalows for those requiring a little more personal independence.
