New Meallmore Care Home Welcomes First Residents

meallmoreMearns House, Meallmore’s newest care home, is now open and has welcomed its first residents.

The home, which opened in July, welcomed four residents in its first week with more expected in the coming months.

It offers 24-hour nursing care and support for up to 68 people, as well as providing expert care for people experiencing the symptoms of dementia.

The new home also brings a significant number of jobs to the local area, with 16 jobs initially created.  It is expected the home will employ up to 80 people once it is at full capacity.

Built by Marshall Construction, the home includes a cinema and multipurpose entertainment space, hairdressing and beauty salon, and beautiful outdoor spaces, along with a refreshment area where residents can relax with friends and family.

Gerry Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore Ltd, said: “We’re extremely proud to see our newest care home welcoming residents.  We identified a need to provide high quality care in the Newton Mearns area and we look forward to bringing our award winning service to the local area.”

Rebecca McLaughlin, care home manager at Mearns House, also said: “We’ve created a modern, luxury home that provides first class accommodation for our residents. People are now living longer and have more complex needs and associated health issues that we have the experience to care for. We tailor our care plans to meet the needs of each resident who deserves to enjoy the later years of their lives in a comfortable, safe and fun environment.

“Our first residents are settling in nicely and I look forward to welcoming more residents in the near future and creating a community atmosphere for all of those who choose to make Mearns House their home.”
