New Arrival To The Care Home Sector As Urban Village Capital Announce Plans For £8.5m Facility In Wigan

Urban Village Capital will complete a purpose-built development in the care home sector in April 2022 – an £8.5m scheme in Wigan.

The Croft, which features 66 en-suite rooms, has been developed by Urban Village Care – a sister company to Urban Village Capital, which is solely focused on building and expanding the provision of quality care home locations across the UK to meet an increasing demand.

The new scheme, which is located in the village of Bickershaw on the outskirts of Wigan, is in keeping with Urban Village Capital’s high construction standards.

Aside from the well-appointed en-suite rooms, The Croft also features communal facilities including a number of lounges, dining facilities, cinema, hairdresser and guest rooms for relatives.

It also has assisted bathrooms, a nurse station and staff room. The site, which covers 0.75 acres, also has associated parking and gardens.

The development will be managed by a specialist senior living operator, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

Urban Village Group chief executive Nick Sellman said: “Figures from the Office for National Statistics indicate that 18 per cent of the population is aged 65 or over, of which almost a third of these people live alone.

“These figures, along with those from Age UK, show there is a real demand for high-quality care home facilities across the country and we can play a significant role in helping meet that demand, with developments like ‘The Croft’.

“We have many years of experience in delivering high quality residential homes and have recruited an experienced care delivery team in order to facilitate this.

“Our care homes, which will be built at various locations across the country, have been carefully designed to ensure those who live there can enjoy a real quality of life and be part of an incredible community.”
