Foundations, the national body for home improvement agency and handyperson services, will return to Naidex (an i2i event) as a show partner in 2015. Foundations will run two workshops and be on hand to offer advice and peer networking throughout Naidex – the UK’s largest event for independent living, which runs from 28 to 30 April at the NEC, Birmingham.

The free training workshops, co-hosted by Foundations and AKW on day one at Naidex (28 April), are aimed at technical officers, Occupational Therapists and other professionals involved in the design and project management of adaptations.

The sessions will cover a range of practical home improvement needs, including housing design for people with visual impairment and designing a dementia-friendly bathroom. There will also be a practical demonstration on the installation of wet floor rooms, demonstrating good practice and common installation faults. Simply register online for a ticket and email enquiries@naidex.co.uk to guarantee one of the limited workshop spaces.

Alex Brooker 2Andy Chaplin, Foundations director said: “We wanted to work with Naidex to provide an environment where technical officers and OTs alike could come together, update their technical knowledge and at same time have a chance to network and view other product developments.”

Foundations provide support to over 170 service providers in England covering more than 80 per cent of local authority districts. The sector deals with over 200,000 enquiries from vulnerable and older people, or their families, each year.

Naidex, incorporating the Foundations training workshops (taking place in the centre of the exhibition hall, stand D89) runs from 28 to 30 April 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham. Entry to Naidex, including the Foundations workshops on 28 April, is free – for more information about Naidex and to register for a ticket, please visit www.naidex.co.uk.
