MP For Poole Visits Amberwood Lodge To Meet Staff And Residents Following ‘Good’ CQC Rating
The MP for Poole, Neil Duncan Jordan (Labour), has visited Amberwood Lodge, a Cygnet Social Care service, to meet staff and residents and learn more about the specialist care being delivered at the service.
During the visit, Mr Duncan Jordan spent time speaking with residents and staff to understand how Amberwood Lodge supports adults with autism and learning disabilities.
He was given a tour of the Cygnet Social Care service, seeing first-hand the homely environment and facilities designed to promote independence, wellbeing and community integration.
Amberwood Lodge was recently rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) across all five key lines of enquiry – Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led – following an inspection carried out in August last year. Inspectors praised the service’s “proactive and positive culture of safety,” and noted that people felt safe, were treated with dignity and respect, and were supported by staff who were “kind, caring and professional.”
The service provides specialist residential support and Mr Duncan Jordan was giving a tour of the facilities including a large communal lounge, sensory room, IT and activity room, two kitchens supporting independent living skills, and a spacious garden with outdoor activities and a summerhouse.
He met members of the multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychology and psychiatry, who all work closely with residents to support daily living skills.
Speaking after the visit, Neil Duncan Jordan MP said:
“It was a real pleasure to visit Amberwood Lodge and meet the residents and staff who make this service such a positive place to live and work. I was impressed by the warm, welcoming environment and the clear commitment to person-centred care.
“It was very clear that staff at Amberwood Lodge support individuals to build confidence and life skills, helping them to achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life.
“The recent ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission is well deserved and reflects the professionalism, dedication and kindness shown by the whole team.”
Laura Brooks, Registered Manager at Amberwood Lodge, added:
“At Cygnet Social Care, we were delighted to welcome Neil Duncan Jordan to Amberwood Lodge and to have the opportunity to showcase the incredible work our team does every day.
“Our recent CQC ‘Good’ rating was a proud moment for the staff here and to showcase our service to our MP was a real highlight.
