Moira Celebrates 30 Years of Caring with Parklands

A Moray care worker is celebrating a major milestone after dedicating 30 years to caring for older people.

Moira Stewart, a carer at Glenisla Care Home in Keith, joined Parklands Care Homes in 1996, just three years after the company was founded. She began her Parklands career at the company’s original care home in Buckie, before moving to Glenisla when it joined the Parklands group.

Since then, Parklands has grown from a single care home in Buckie to a group of 13 homes employing around 1,000 people across the north.

Now one of Parklands’ longest-serving colleagues, Moira uses the knowledge and experience gained over 30 years in care to support residents and their families with “kindness and compassion”, according to her manager.

Moira said: “I have dedicated my life to caring for others. I wouldn’t have chosen to do anything else. The staff at Glenisla are fantastic, and the residents are lovely. It has been a real joy and privilege to care for them over the years. I’m proud of the journey I’ve had and grateful for all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way.”

Glenisla manager Brenda Harper added: “Moira’s experience is invaluable to all of us at Glenisla, but what really stands out is the kindness and compassion she shows every day.

“She knows our residents well, understands their needs and is always there for their families too. She is a much-valued member of the team and I’d like to thank her for everything she has given to Glenisla over the years.”
