Midlands Care Home Entertained by Junior Football Team as Generations Come Together in Sutton Coldfield

Residents at Sutton Rose Care Home in Sutton Coldfield marked the start of the Spring weather with a heartwarming afternoon spent with the junior team members of Boldmere St Michael’s Football Club – with the youngsters entertaining residents with their football skills, before enjoying a communal afternoon tea together.

The initiative is part of an ongoing partnership designed to strengthen links between generations and keep residents connected to the local community.

Sutton Rose, a luxury, state-of-the-art care home that’s part of the Macc Care Group, regularly sponsors the junior football club, enabling residents to watch the team’s monthly matches, while also welcoming players to the home for regular monthly get-togethers.

The latest visit brought residents and players together for a lovely afternoon tea, followed by some friendly sporting competition. Residents loved watching the children play football in the care home’s garden, with their energy and enthusiasm helping to create a joyful atmosphere that sparked many happy memories for everyone involved.

The partnership has become a much-loved part of life at Sutton Rose, with the visits offering residents a valuable opportunity to engage with younger members of the local community and enjoy shared experiences built around sport, companionship and fun.

Commenting on the initiative, Bhav Amlani, Director of Macc Care, said: “Our ongoing relationship with Boldmere St Michael’s Football Club is a wonderful example of how care homes can play an active role in community life. Initiatives like these remind us how powerful it is to bring people of all ages together, creating meaningful moments for residents and young people alike.”

“A huge thank you to St Michael’s for spending the day with us. We can’t wait to welcome the team back again soon!”
