Long Service Awards for Care Home with More than 50 Years’ Service Between Staff Members

Four staff members at a Hertfordshire based care home recently received a long service award to celebrate their achievements.

Julie Brooker, Linda Turner, Lynne Edwards and Naudi Thompson were all awarded for their continued services at MHA Elmside care home in Hitchin.

Collectively the total years of service came to 55, with Julie being the longest serving member of staff at 20 years, followed by 15 for Linda and 10 for both Lynne and Naudi.

To celebrate the four were given a long service award certificate along with a gift.
Julie started working as a laundry assistant in 2002 and says she had no plans to retire and will probably finish her working career at the home.

She added: “I really enjoy working here and making sure the residents look smart.

“I get along with the staff well and it’s a lovely place to work.

“The job keeps me going and there have been some tough times, especially during the height of the pandemic but we all pulled through together like one big family.

“I don’t have any plans to retire at the moment, but when I do it will more than likely be from here.”

Naudi Thompson, catering manager said: “I didn’t realise I have been here for 10 years, but it is an amazing feeling.

“It’s nice to feel recognised and I am very happy to be part of a group that can celebrate a huge achievement like this.”

Vilawan Hawkes, home manager said: “I am extremely proud of the staff, and they thoroughly deserve their achievement.

“Here at MHA Elmside, we have such a great team and achievements like this are vital and act as motivation for others.

“We are one of the lucky homes to have such an amazing team of staff and for all of us that work here, it’s not just a job it’s part of our lives it’s our passion”
