localResidents at Care South’s Templeman House in Bournemouth welcomed AFC Bournemouth’s Marc Pugh to a special celebratory event yesterday to mark three years of the partnership between AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and Care South.

The Cherries winger, who is an ambassador for the partnership, joined residents at Templeman House for a game of chair football.  Jim Nolan, a resident at Templeman House also showed off his footballing skills – in his youth he had a trial for Tottenham Hotspur and has been an avid footballer all his life.

Care South’s partnership with AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust enables residents, home care service users and staff to get involved in a variety of activities including meeting players, coffee mornings, walking football and visits to the Vitality Stadium.

Led by Marc and the Community Sports Trust’s coaches, residents were invited to take part in an exciting game, from the comfort of their armchairs. Marc, who has been at the club since the summer of 2010 and is a firm favourite with fans and the many Care South residents he has visited,  spent time chatting to the residents about the team’s recent news and successes in the Premier League.

Susan Willoughby, Chief Executive at Care South, said: “We are delighted to mark another successful year of our partnership with AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust and are looking forward to continuing this fruitful relationship. Over the last year, residents have visited the Vitality Stadium, enjoyed regular chair football sessions with the Community Sport’s Team coaches and some were lucky enough to watch the Cherries play at home. Marc is a fantastic ambassador for the partnership and his support has helped to drive strong levels of interest in the work we are doing together.”
