Local Care Home & Living Well Launch New Dementia Café
Staff and residents at The Fairview House Care Home in Aberdeen were joined by the Living Well Café and local charity ‘Music 4 u’ in launching a brand new community dementia café in the home and were joined by our neighbours and friends from the local community.
Linda a representative of living well had the pleasure of cutting the ribbon and opening the homes new café. The Living Well Project was set up in 2010, with the aim of supporting isolated and vulnerable people in the communities of North Aberdeen.
The Living Well Project embraces two strands of care within the community; The Living Well Befriending Service and The Living Well Dementia Cafés.
Yvonne and Lewis from Music 4 u provided an afternoon of entertainment.
Taking place every first Wednesday of the month from 2pm – 4pm, residents from within the local community will have a chance to meet and chat over tea or coffee and homemade cakes provided by the home. Guests will also have a chance to take a tour of the home, and ask any questions they might have about care.
Operations Manager of the home, Mark Hurst said:
“Our newly launched dementia cafe allows individuals from the local area to meet and connect with one another regularly. It’s a great chance to share stories, make new friends, and of course, enjoy our wonderful spread provided by our hospitality team!’
