Local Care Home Gets Lucky for St Patrick’s Day

Residents and staff at local care home Ashcombe House in Worting road celebrated all things Irish for their St Patrick’s Day celebrations this week.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, cèilidhs, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

In honour of the patron saint of Ireland, staff, residents and guests at the home enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment with Tony Allgood who really got everyone involved with his Irish dancing and songs. A delicious Lunch was served followed by the luck of the Irish with a Pot of Gold Bingo.

General Manager, Louise Lambert said: “The people who live and work here at Ashcombe have really enjoyed today’s festivities. We’ve had everything from Irish Dancing, singing and Guinness tasting and everyone has been really keen to get involved.”

Ashcombe House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare.
