Local Care Home Celebrates Wear A Hat Day

Staff and residents at Magnolia Court in Hampstead celebrated Wear a Hat Day, which took place this year on Friday 26 March, by hosting some hat-tastic fundraising activities in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

First launched in 2010 by the Brain Tumour Research charity, Wear a Hat Day has raised over £2m to help fund crucial discovery research at its UK Centres of Excellence as well as supporting vital campaigning activity to influence UK governments and larger cancer charities to invest more in researching the causes of and cures for brain tumours.

Residents and staff donned their most extravagant hats to shine a light on the cause and celebrate the joy and positivity the charity’s work brings to those living with brain tumours and their loved ones. Staff and residents had a cupcake and a badge sale on the day, showcasing their various different headgear. Their combined efforts raised £85 for the cause.

Fundraising went further more toward the local community who were happy to wear a hat and share our event.

Virgil Sultan, Deputy Manager at Magnolia our Care Home, said: “Our residents love to dress up so they all had great fun putting on their best hats for the occasion. It is such an important cause and we wanted to do our bit to help all those living with brain tumours. We’re delighted to have been able to raise some funds for Brain Tumour Research.”
