LaingBuisson And Public Policy Projects Announce A New Partnership Led By Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell

LaingBuisson and Public Policy Projects announce a new partnership between LaingBuisson’s conferences and events business and the public policy think tank operated by Public Policy Projects. Under the leadership of Rt Hon Stephen Dorrell, the new business will offer a unique combination of market intelligence, policy development and public discussion of the opportunities and challenges facing the UK health and care sector.

LaingBuisson is the leading source of market intelligence on the health and care sector in the UK, and Public Policy Projects is a specialist think tank which provides a meeting place for the policy community interested in the sector. The new partnership between these two authoritative and highly respected voices will develop debate and expand access to decision makers across the sector through an enhanced calendar of events and conferences.

The new organisation will be led by Stephen Dorrell – a former Health Secretary and Chair of the House of Commons Health Committee until May 2014.

Speaking of the new venture, Stephen Dorrell said:

“The healthcare sector faces multiple challenges, including demand pressures that are both growing and changing, costs which continue to rise faster than general inflation, and an increasing willingness among citizens to challenge traditional decision making processes.

The overarching challenge is, however, the requirement to address these issues against the background of severely constrained resources. We shall maintain a tight focus on the economic and policy implications of these challenges. The range of issues is daunting, but there is no sector which has a greater influence on the quality of life enjoyed by citizens of our society – and therefore none which is more important.”

William Laing, CEO of LaingBuisson added:

“Stephen Dorrell has a long track record as a thoughtful and independent contributor to policy development in UK healthcare. At a time where conferences, seminars and forums play a key role in facilitating constructive discussion, both within the independent sector and as a bridge between the public and private, we believe that this partnership will become a much needed addition to the landscape.”

Forthcoming events which will be hosted by the new venture include:

•    LaingBuisson Private Acute Healthcare Conference & Whole Pathways Contracts Seminar (Central London, 23 September)
•    LaingBuisson Awards 2015 (Central London, 11 November)
•    The Economics of Care – Long term care funding & market sustainability (Central London, 1 December)
•    Northern Care Business Conference (Leeds, 2 December)
