Managing Director of Homes Together, David Ashton-Jones, read about the local swimming club’s plight and their difficulties in hosting fundraising galas due to Covid-19 and the closure of the Hydro for its refurbishment. The care home group has now offered to provide a substantial contribution to funding the club needed to continue with its success.

David Ashton-Jones, Managing Director of Homes Together, commented on the new partnership, “I read about the club’s struggles in the local paper and immediately wanted to help. I know that Harrogate District Swimming Club have a squad called Hotshots which supports children and young adults with either physical or learning impairments, so for us, this made even more sense.

“Many of our service users are sports fans and enjoy participating in sports. This partnership is a way for us to support a local cause and do more to show the positive links between sport and disability. We look forward to watching the team achieve great success!”

Harrogate District Swimming Club communications officer Brian Charlton said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with a great local company. Having lost our main source of funds, the Club has nevertheless managed to get the swimmers back in the pool. The continued closure of the Hydro puts further financial pressure on the Club, with restricted pool time making expansion difficult. The support of Homes Together will help us over these difficult months and support us in moving on to bigger and better things.”
