Hebburn Supported Living Resident Celebrates Maths Qualification Success

An individual supported at Salutem Care and Education’s Harmony House in Hebburn has completed a significant achievement after passing his Functional Skills Maths Level 2 qualification.

Alex Warents decided to use time in hospital positively by improving his mathematical skills. His hard work and determination paid off, with weekly lessons and the support of his tutor helping him to build confidence and successfully pass the exam.

“I’m really proud of myself,” said Alex. “I wanted to do something positive with my time, and the lessons helped me a lot. My professor was very helpful, and it feels great to have achieved the highest level I can in maths. In the future, I’d like to work towards a degree.”

Harmony House provides 24-hour residential care and support for up to 23 adults with learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and other complex needs. The team there are incredibly proud of Alex’s achievement and the dedication he has shown.

John Godden MBE, chief executive of Salutem Care and Education, said:
“Alex’s success is a brilliant example of how learning and personal growth can happen anywhere and at any stage of life. His determination to use his time constructively and achieve something meaningful is inspiring. Everyone at Salutem is immensely proud of him.”
