Hartwood House Chef Gets Through To National Final
Dan Bree, Head Chef at Hartwood House in Lyndhurst, has been shortlisted as one the Nation’s top 5 Chefs in Care at the Cost Sector Catering Awards, a prestigious competition that covers the entire UK Catering Industry. The awards have become the premier event in the catering calendar and a fantastic way to celebrate the stunning quality and high standards across the catering sector.
To make it through to this shortlist is an amazing achievement, but it comes as no surprise to the residents and family carers at Hartwood House that know Dan and enjoy his food every day.
Dan now has a nervous wait to see if he wins the top spot and will find out during a glittering awards dinner and ceremony in London on 31st March 2016. Dan will also be joined by his lovely wife, Hannah, Hartford Care’s CEO Sean Gavin, other senior Hartford Care team members as well as Sheldon Childress, Head Chef from Hartford Care’s Boulters Lock Care Home in Berkshire who has also been shortlisted as a finalist in this category. Amazingly, Hartford Care have 2 of the 5 nominations for the UKs best Chef in Care.
Sean Gavin said “This is an amazing achievement for both Dan and Sheldon but thoroughly deserved and we are all delighted for them. Hartford Care has always placed great emphasis on the food in our care homes as it plays such a central role in the quality off the lives of our residents. To have one of our Chefs recognised in this way would be amazing; to have both Dan and Sheldon shortlisted is simply unbelievable. We are all so proud of them both!”
Dan said of his shortlisting “I was so proud to have been initially nominated by my peers for this award, but I never expected for a moment I would actually be shortlisted and end up in the London Hilton at a Black Tie event with a chance to win the award as best Chef in the Care Catering Award. I am shocked but very excited, my wife will have to buy a new dress.”
