Harrogate Care Home Supports Mayor’s Poppy Appeal

HC-One’s Grosvenor House care home in Harrogate is supporting the Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor Stuart Martin, MBE’s poppy appeal with over three hundred poppies knitted by Residents, friends, family and members of the team.

The Mayor has appealed to the local community to help decorate an area around the Cenotaph in the town centre with poppies in preparation for Remembrance Sunday, which will take place on November 10th to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth servicemen and women who served in World War I and World War II.

After the Mayor of Harrogate’s appeal the community at Grosvenor House started knitting poppies and in four weeks had managed to make over three hundred, which have been donated to the display.
One Resident commented: “It was a pleasure to knit the poppies, we are all looking forward to seeing them in the display when it is assembled.”

Susan Nutter, home manager at Grosvenor House said: “Well done to everyone who contributed poppies to the collection, it is a lovely way to honour the memory and sacrifices of the brave heroes that have served for our country.”
