Great Oaks To Tackle Loneliness This Christmas

Great Oaks care home in Bournemouth is inviting elderly members of the community, who would have been on their own this Christmas, to join its residents for Christmas Day lunch.

The care home has teamed up with Hope in the Community and Age UK Bournemouth, to find lonely members of the community to ensure they don’t spend the holiday alone. Father Christmas will be making a special appearance at the home to deliver a gift to each resident and guests on the day. After lunch Great Oaks’ dedicated activities manager has organised for carol singing and festive activities such as charades to take place for everyone to join in with if they wish.

Ian MacDonald, care home manager of Great Oaks, said: “Christmas is a time to be spent with loved ones and friends so it was important for us to work with Hope in the Community and Age UK to reach out to those who would have otherwise spent it alone.

“The wellbeing and happiness of our residents is central to our ethos but we also wish to extend this belief to our wider community. Our family at Great Oaks look forward to sharing this special time with our guests and hope to bring them joy this festive season.”
