Georgia’s Skydiving For A Sensory Bathroom For Residents

BoroughGeorgia Dawson, Act Up Senior Care Assistant at Borough Care’s Bamford Close in Cale Green, Stockport, is doing a skydive to raise money for a sensory bathroom at the residential care home.

Georgia will be doing a tandem skydive close to Lake Windermere in the Lake District on Saturday 27 October. She is hoping to tackle a jump from 15,000 feet. Commenting on her skydive, Georgia Dawson says: “This will be the first time I have skydived but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Raising money for something that will directly benefit the residents I work with seemed the perfect opportunity for me to give skydiving a go.”

A sensory bathroom is being planned at Bamford Close, to make a more comfortable bathing environment for those residents who no longer enjoy the experience. The new bathroom will include a Jacuzzi bath, light wall, bubble wall and music, to create a restful and relaxing space for residents to bathe and refresh themselves.

Bamford Close is a residential care home for those living with dementia. It offers small group living in four self-contained buildings, each with ten bedrooms and a lounge/dining area. In addition, there is a large central lounge area where residents can meet together to socialise and participate in a wide range of activities. Bamford Close is one of Borough Care’s eleven homes across Stockport. The company is the largest not for profit provider of care for older people in the borough.
