Former England Footballer Joins Incredible Care Home Appeal Response.

When Elm House Care Home in Skelmersdale launched an appeal in December for people to send Christmas cards to their residents to make them feel even more loved during the festive season, they did not anticipate the incredible response they received!

By the end of Christmas, over five hundred cards had arrived at the home, which included cards from former Liverpool players Chris Kirkland and Neil Mellor, and former England star Michael Owen!

Registered Manager, Angela Finnigan told us:

“We just couldn’t believe the number of cards that we were receiving! The messages inside were genuinely heart-warming and have made everybody feel so special and loved. The residents have been reading the cards to each other over Christmas and there have been tears of joy!

“Beautiful cards came in from schools, businesses and caring individuals across the North West and the owners of the home have kindly promised to make a donation to Dementia UK for every card we received, so as well as making our residents so happy, it has also been a great fundraiser for a very important charity. We would like to thank every single person that sent a card to us.”
