Dream Comes True for Special Needs Girl, Princess Paige

A young woman from Cardiff with complex special needs was a princess for a day when she attended her mother’s wedding in ballgown and tiara.

Paige Cotter, 25, who has an acquired brain injury, has lived at Lewis Martin Court in Cardiff since 2017.

Although non-verbal, Paige was involved in selecting her bridesmaid outfit, which consisted of a red dress, faux-fur shrug and tiara. Paige’s favourite colour is red, so her mum chose it as her theme colour for the big day.

Emily Andrews, a senior support worker at Lewis Martin Court helped Paige with a hair and make up trial a week before the wedding to give her the full maid of honour experience.

The ceremony was held at St Fagan’s in Cardiff on 22 February and the wedding breakfast took place in the village hotel.
Emily and team leader Sarah Ellis supported Paige on the day to ensure she had a wonderful time at her mother’s fairy tale wedding.

Sarah Davies service manager at Lewis Martin Court said:
“It was such a relief that we were able to support Paige and her family during their celebration.

“The last two years have been so difficult and it’s lovely there is some normality. Paige looked absolutely gorgeous, and I am so grateful to Sarah and Emily who changed their shifts to make this possible.”
