Dementia Awareness At Accrington Care Home
An Accrington care home hosted a special party to raise awareness of dementia as part of a series of events marking Dementia Awareness Week 2016.
More than 850,000 people in the UK live with dementia, a figure set to increase to more than 1million by 2025.
Staff at the Springhill Care Home participated in activities designed to simulate symptoms associated with the condition, including wearing goggles and headphones to impair the senses and create confusion while carrying out everyday tasks.
There was also a cake decorating competition and a buffet, while a raffle and tombola with prizes kindly donated by local suppliers which raised £180 which the home is donating to the Alzheimer’s Society
