Crewe Care Home Residents’ Faces Light Up For World Lizard Day With Visit From Zoolab

Primrose House care home, in Crewe, residents welcomed a visit from Zoolab to celebrate World Lizard Day.

The experience is a firm favourite with residents at Primrose House, who enjoy engaging with different animals, learning about them, and showing how brave they are too.

In this particular visit to the residential dementia and nursing dementia care home, there were lots of creepy crawlies, snakes and giant snails for the residents to get to hold and touch. Many of them, including Brenda Steel, were very brave and held the snake and giant snail!

The session sparked lots of reminiscing. Brenda was asking the Zoolab representatives where the snail was from and whether she could touch it. She was also telling them how she loves animals and used to keep dogs.

Brenda Steel, a resident living at Primrose House care home, commented:
“Having the love of a dog is such a wonderful thing!”

Primrose House colleagues including Maryam, Wellbeing Coordinator, Kourosh, Care Assistant and Kristina, Housekeeper, jumped in on the action too as it was such a unique and engaging experience.

Dawn Sadler, Home Manager at Primrose House care home, said:
“It is amazing what animals can do for residents living with dementia, their faces lit up. I was overwhelmed how much interaction the residents showed. Absolutely wonderful having Zoolab in today”.
