Confidential Helpline Launched By Care Provider

AkariAkari Care has reinforced its commitment to a zero tolerance policy on abuse or malpractice with the launch of an independent and confidential helpline for staff, residents and relatives.

Designed to work alongside existing reporting mechanisms, the helpline will enable any legitimate concerns to be raised with the knowledge that they will be treated seriously and referred directly to a member of the senior management team.

Lynn Fearn, deputy CEO at Akari Care, said:  “Our staff are kind, caring and professional and we have very few issues concerning standards of care.  However, we are committed to dealing responsibly, openly and professionally with any genuine concerns raised.

“Care for older people is changing rapidly.   People’s expectations of care have increased and this brings a number of challenges to providers.   The key challenge is the provision of a first class service delivered by a high quality care team in an environment that recognises and maintains the dignity of clients.  This is our aim and on the rare occasion care falls below this level we want to ensure that staff, residents and relatives have the means to report this, safe in the knowledge that it will be reviewed and any necessary action taken.

“Everyone has a responsibility to ensure that the people we care for are safe and this new initiative will complement the existing routes for reporting concerns.”

The helpline will be advertised with prominent posters in every Akari care home.  The number is 0800 195 6579
