Committed Ixworth Care Team Praised for Long Service

An Ixworth care home has praised the loyalty and dedication of its team with 20 of its long-serving members clocking up 243 years of service between them.

The Beeches Residential Home has formed a 20-person strong dedicated care team since the care home was set up in the village of Ixworth in 1985.

Some of the longest standing members of The Beeches team include Angela Wade, Home Manager, 26 years, Ruth Skelhorn, Cook, 27 years and Wendy Ainsley, Care Worker, 22 years.

Bev Shave, Deputy Home Manager at The Beeches, who has worked at the home for the last 16 years, said:
“We are very proud of our amazing care team here at The Beeches. We have such tremendously committed members of staff which is brilliant.

“The stability of our staff team helps us to build trusted relationships and deliver a consistent level of care for our residents, who are very dear to us and at the heart of everything we do at our care home. Having such a committed team means that we are able to provide the very best levels of care, come rain, shine or snow!”

Bev continued:
“Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the care sector has faced recruitment and retention challenges in caring roles. However, we’re proud to have a very friendly, professional and experienced team here who have worked together for a number of years, whilst being able to offer support and career opportunities to our colleagues that help to make us an employer of choice in the local area.”

Laura Jackson has worked for The Beeches since 2010, and has had great career progression over the last 12 years.

Laura said:
“When I first started at The Beeches, I had no idea I would still be here all these years later. I was nearly 16 when I started as a kitchen assistant, and have since then transitioned into care, and in 2018 I was promoted to be a senior care worker at the home.”

She continued: “Working in care is such a fulfilling career, and it’s even better when you have a supportive team around you who are committed to their work and the lovely residents that we take care of!”
