Colwyn Bay Home Welcomes Special Visitors as Part of Be Kind to Animals Month
A Colwyn Bay home welcomes in some special visitors to spend time with residents and staff as part of Be Kind to Animals Month.
MHA Coed Craig welcomed Scaly Safari Co, a reptile and animal handling experience company based in North Wales and their crew of snakes, a bearded dragon, tarantula, chameleon and a ten rex to the home.
The visit was part of the home’s appreciation to Be Kind to Animals Month, where we are encouraged to acknowledge the important role animals play in our lives and to encourage compassion and care for all animals.
The group were at the home for just over an hour, which gave residents and staff plenty of time to get used to them.
MHA Coed Craig provides residential and residential dementia care for 45 residents.
Hayley Williams, activity coordinator said:
“We had Scaly Safari Co come and visit the home to tell us a little about what it is they did and always had the intention to invite them and their team of animals.
“As May is Be Kind to Animals Month, we figured it was the ideal time to call them in, and it worked really well.
“The residents had a great time, some were hesitant initially but once they got used to them they were fine.
“Staff members also got involved, which was nice to see.
“Some of the residents are still talking about the animals, and how much they enjoyed the visit.
“The visit was also very educational for our residents as they were told some facts about each animal.
“It’s definitely something we will look to do again, the first visit was very successful, and I am confident the next one will be the same.”
