Chickenshed Brings The Theatre To Enfield Care Home Bullsmoor Lodge
To mark World Theatre Day, residents and staff at Bullsmoor Lodge care home in Enfield welcomed performers from the amazing Chickenshed Theatre for an afternoon of glitz and glam.
Because residents were unable to make it to the live theatre performances of Chickenshed Theatre’s latest production, the cast visited the care home on a chilly spring day to bring a touch of The Gladrags Secret Society sparkle to them.
Young adults from the Chickenshed’s Space Between Us outreach team gave a performance of music and dance, with songs from the musicals of the past, encouraging residents to join in and sing along to their favourite tunes.
The Space Between Us is designed to unite people of all ages, inviting them to explore, celebrate and bridge the gaps that divide us. Through its workshops in care homes, performers engage older people in meaningful, interactive experiences that spark joy, encourage expression and reduce isolation.
Activities co-ordinator at Bullsmoor Lodge, Sandy, said:
“What a spectacular group of young adults! We cannot wait to welcome them back into our home.”
Residents’ feedback was equally enthusiastic. Patricia said: “I really enjoyed the music and dancing with them. I even sang on the microphone to ‘What a wonderful world’.”
“Bullsmore Lodge was very welcoming,” said Rachel Yates, creative producer of The Space Between Us, “and we loved how interactive the staff and residents were. Keran, Eloise and Cerys from our Space Between Us team had a fantastic time connecting with residents, as we sang and danced non-stop. Our favourite moment was when Proud Mary started, and residents wanted to take centre stage on the mic!”
