Cheshire Care Home Commemorates Residents With Balloon Release

Simonsfield-Remembrance-SerStaff and residents at Simonsfield share special memories at remembrance service

A Cheshire care home held an uplifting service to commemorate residents who passed away over the last year with the release of a special set of balloons.

Residents and staff at Simonsfield Care Home in Runcorn, along with the families who’s loved ones had passed away over the last 12 months, came together for a moving afternoon of remembrance.

During the service on Friday 10 October, each family wrote a personal message which was attached to a balloon. The individual balloons were then bunched together and released high into the air from the grounds of the home.

A special remembrance book was commissioned and passed around to the 30 families in attendance, who each shared a message following the event, which also included food and refreshment for all guests as they shared fond memories of their late loved ones.

Clare Richards, Home Manager at Simonsfield, said: “Our Remembrance Service made for an extremely moving and uplifting afternoon which gave families, staff and residents the chance to say a fond farewell to those we have lost over the past year.

“Reading the messages celebrating the lives of each of our late residents was truly touching, as was taking the time to recall shared moments and special memories. The release of our special silver balloons made for a wonderful sight, which finished the day perfectly.”
