Century Celebrations For Local Care Home Resident

CenturyCelebrations have been in full swing at Magnolia Court Care Home in Hampstead, Barnet, as one of its residents reached her centenary in style.

Betty Gouldman was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she received a special card from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a huge birthday cake and live music with our residents’ favourite entertainer William Smith, all put together by the homes’ in house Activities Coordinators Mimi and Josie.

Barbara Ozga, General Manager of Magnolia Court made a toast to Betty in front of the guests on the day. Barbara said “A very big Happy Birthday to a very special lady, she has been an excellent resident and friend here at Magnolia Court, so helpful to others and always up for fun, and always has an interesting tale to tell. We look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century.”

The Resident Ambassador of Magnolia Court, when asked what kept her so young, the birthday girl replied said “Maxfactor, darling.”

Among those relatives attending was Betty’s son Graham, the lead singer of famous rock band 10CC. Speaking about his centenarian mother, he said: “Mum has been a fantastic mother and friend to so many over the past hundred years, and it’s wonderful to be with her on this very special day, I cannot say just how proud she makes us feel.”
