Century Celebrations For Local Care Home Resident

Celebrations have been in full swing at Magnolia Court, as one of its residents reaches her centenary in style.

Rosie was joined by staff, relatives, and other residents as she received a telegram from the Queen in recognition of her landmark birthday. A champagne & Tea afternoon was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special personalised birthday cake made especially for Rosie.

Rosie has lived a wonderful interesting life, learning 5 languages over the years. Rosie retired several years ago but before that she was a teacher for 45 years teaching at the prestigious Lycee Français, in south Kensington. Rosie retired several years ago before coming to Magnolia Court, where she is enjoying a new chapter of her life.

The birthday girl, said: I can’t believe I am one hundred years old but I know it is an achievement. The Staff at Magnolia Court have made me feel so special and to receive a Birthday card from the queen is very special.

Among those relatives attending in person was Rosie’s son Eric and her daughter-in-law. Rosie’s Granddaughter, Speaking about her centenarian her Grand Daughter Ellen said: “Rosie is and has been a fantastic Grandmother and friend to so many over the past hundred years, and it’s wonderful to be with her on this very special day to say just how proud she makes us feel.”

Octavian Stanciu, General Manager of Barchester Magnolia Court Care home added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone. Rosie is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century.”
