Carer Sits In Paddling Pool Full Of Baked Beans To Raise More Than £400 For Residents’ Day Out

On the hottest day of the year so far, one dedicated carer at Dove Court care home in Wisbech took fundraising to a whole new level—by sitting in a paddling pool filled with baked beans.

Pamela Mulqueen, who works as both a carer and activities coordinator at the home, braved the unusual challenge in the care home’s garden, much to the delight of residents and staff, to raise funds for a special day out chosen by the people who live at Dove Court.

Thanks to Pamela’s commitment—and a lot of beans—more than £400 was raised. The residents will now come together to decide exactly how they would like to spend the money, with plans for a memorable outing in the works.

Nicole Thompson, home manager at Dove Court, said:
“Pamela is always full of beans! This fundraiser is just one example of how she goes above and beyond for our residents. The whole home got involved in cheering her on, and we’re all thrilled with the amount raised. Most importantly, the residents will have the final say on how the money is spent, which makes it even more special.”
